Forbidden Glances – A Short History of Censorship and the Issue of Homosexuality

A lecture and a panel discussion will focus on this key topic: whereas Matthias Uhlmann will offer a concise general history of censorship in Zurich, the panel discussion will explore how censorship dealt with the issue of homosexuality in the past. This special will be accompanied by some illustrating film screenings: feature films that fell victim to censorship, and titles that document gay and lesbian film history – from the traces of censorship (and it’s avoidance) to the beginning of the modern homosexual movement.
In collaboration with the English Department of the University of Zurich.
